Mt. Comfort Elementary School (MCE) offers several extra-curricular activities for students to get involved in. MCE staff know that getting students involved in opportunities they are interested in Engages and Empowers students to discover their strengths.
Many of the extra curricular activities have been successful in meeting the students' goals. Success is defined here as providing a positive experience that builds students' character, helps identify strengths and enriches the students' lives.
MCE has several extra curricular activities to enhance student learning and service. These activities are before or after school and do require parents to provide transportation from the activity.
Student Council
Two students from fourth and fifth grade classrooms are elected by classmates in the fall to serve as representatives for the student council. Elections occur after a speech to the class is given. The student council meets 15 to 20 times during the year and some service activities are required.

Book Clubs
Book clubs are offered throughout the school year to interested students. Book clubs meet after school in the library.

Robotics Club
Students in 5th grade are selected by an application process to participate in Robotics Club. Students design and build a robot using VEX IQ kits. Students will drive their robots through various courses and obstacles.

Choir
The MCE School Choir is a non-auditioned choir available to any student in 4th or 5th grade. Students will get to experience singing a variety of music in a group setting. These students will perform for the Veteran’s Day, Winter, and Spring Programs.
Day: Thursday 2:15-3:00 (1st semester & 4th quarter)
Festival Choir
The Festival Choir is an auditioned honor choir for students in 4th or 5th grade.. Festival Choir students will be selected to perform at the Circle the State with Song Choral Festival, along with other schools throughout the state. Students in the Festival Choir must also be in the MCE School Choir.
Day: Thursday 3:00-3:15 (1st semester), 2:15-3:00 (3rd quarter)
Mallets and Movement
The MCE Mallets and Movement Ensemble is open to any 4th or 5th grade student. This ensemble will focus on instrumental music performance through the use of xylophones, classroom percussion instruments, and creative movement. These students will perform for the Winter and Spring Programs.
Day: Monday 2:15-3:00 (for most of the school year)
