What a week it has been! Between an eLearning day, two virtual learning days, a two-hour delay that shifted to virtual due to a water issue, and another two-hour delay, we truly appreciate everyone’s flexibility, patience, and understanding as we worked through these unexpected changes.

Our students still have time to complete any assignments from the eLearning and virtual days, especially since we were not able to be in the school building as planned. Thank you for continuing to support learning at home during these disruptions.

As always, please remember that any important updates will come directly from the school or district through Parent Square. We appreciate your patience as we ensure information is accurate before sending messages out.
Let’s hope for five “normal” school days next week! Thank you again for your partnership and support.

Student Council

The Mt. Comfort Elementary Student Council is raising funds again this year for Riley Children's Hospital.  Mt. Comfort Elementary has a LONG history of being a great donor for Riley.   Our $1 hat days will be used as donations for our school.  In addition, families and students can become part of our online team to seek donations as well!  More information below.  

We are hosting a fundraising campaign to benefit kids and families who need Riley, Indiana’s only nationally-ranked, comprehensive children’s research hospital. All proceeds from this event directly benefit Riley Children's Health.   

We are excited to be involved in this important philanthropic work and have volunteered time and energy throughout the year to raise money for Riley. We are very passionate about Riley and know that the work we are doing is making a difference! 

We would love for you to be a part of our success this year, in fact, we can't do it without you!  Will you please help us reach our fundraising goal for the kids? 

Making a donation to our team is fast, easy, and secure. You can be sure that your gift is important and making an impact for kids and families who need Riley's world-class pediatric health care.

Update due to Weather - We are extending our shoe collection into next week!  Shoes can be collected and counted until Thursday, February 5th!

Mt. Comfort Elementary is excited to kick off our annual shoe collection in partnership with Changing Footprints! This is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to support families in need right here in our area.

What to donate:
✔️ New or gently used shoes✔️ Shoes must be usable and in good condition
✔️ Please tie laces together or secure pairs with a rubber band

đźš« This year, we are unable to accept worn-out, damaged, or unusable shoes, as only wearable donations can be distributed to those in need.

Thank you for helping us make a positive impact and for teaching our students the importance of generosity and service. More details will be shared as the collection continues!

Teacher Appreciation Cart Are you interested in helping us spoil our teachers and staff each month?  If so, sign up for our Teacher Appreciation Cart! You simply find a friend, sign up for a date, grab what you need (this is funded completely by you) and deliver it door to door all the while seeing everyone’s beautiful smiles. The staff always appreciates being spoiled and it’s the least we can do to give back to them for all that they do! Please sign up below if you are interested. Valentine's Day  is just around the corner and that means it’s CANDY GRAM time!  Support MCE by sending an Airheads or Sour Patch Kids to your kiddos, their friends or their entire class.  (Let’s try to make sure every kiddo gets a treat so no one feels left out).  Sales begin now and will end on 2/11/26 at 11:59 PM.  All treats will be delivered on 2/13/26.

After lots of conversation and consideration we have had to make the decision to cancel the dance on February 6. We did not take this decision lightly. We simply don’t have enough people signed up to support the financial need to do it. This has never happened with us and we are heartbroken that this is how it has to be. Refunds will be sent to those who have purchased tickets. We send our apologies and hope that we don’t ever have to do this again. MCE CLUBS


On Wednesday, February the 4th, Mt. Comfort Elementary will be celebrating "Global School Play Day!" 
Your child is encouraged to bring in one of the following items:
- Legos/blocks
- Dress up items
- Puppets
- Non-Violent Toys
- Stuffed animals
- Board games
- Puzzles
Items MUST fit in students' backpacks. No weapons of any kind. No electronics.
The purpose of this day is to help our students build skills to play with one another, share, be creative, and to utilize things within their surroundings. Hours/Arrival/Dismissal

7:15 AM-Car riders and bus riders allowed in the building

7:35 AM- Car rider line closed-must enter main entrance and will be marked tardy

2:00 PM- Car riders and day care riders start dismissal  (1:15 on Wednesday)

2:05 PM- Bus riders start dismissal (1:20 on Wednesday)


Car Rider Line Safety & Efficiency
In efforts to maintain safety, we need children to be ready to exit the car in the morning. If your student is not ready, the line can be delayed. In order to prevent delays, you may be asked to circle back around if your student is not ready when it is their turn.
Please do not get out of the car to assist your student, as this delays the line and is a safety hazard. If you need to get out of your car to help, you may be asked to park or circle back around so that the line can continue moving.
Vehicles should not pass or go around other cars unless school personnel is present and waves you around.
Please work with your student on getting in the car and fastening seat belts quickly. Adults getting out of the car creates a safety concern.

Morning Arrival Tips

Many MCE families have chosen to use our car line. Efficiency in our line improved greatly over the past year. A few things that you can do to help include:
  • Move car seats to the side of the car where your student enters and exits.
  • Help your child learn how to manage the buckle independently (the goal is for all adults to stay in the vehicle).
  • Make sure the book bag and other supplies are close to your child so they can grab them quickly.
  • Pull all the way up (to the cone or the nearest car in front of you).
  • We do not dismiss students one at a time in front of the main entrance (even if it’s raining, snowing, or cold).

Afternoon Dismissal Expectations

  • All students need to get in on the right side of the car.
  • Students should be able to close their door and buckle on their own.
  • You will be asked to keep the car line moving.
  • If you need extra time to buckle your child, please pull ahead and park in a parking spot to secure your student before heading out.
We really enjoy seeing our families at arrival and dismissal! Thank you for your help in making our car rider line safer and more efficient.

Morning of Late Drop-Off Reminder

If you are dropping your student off after 7:35 am, you will need to drop them off at the front door.  Also, adults need to come in and sign the child in as tardy.  Please do not just send your child into the school.
